Thanksgiving 2008

It has become our family tradition to spend Thanksgiving at ....the beach. We were able to enjoy one day on the beach. It was even warm enough to venture into the edge of the water to retrieve a few really nice shells. That's my thing. Collecting sea shells.

We also had a nice lunch Thanksgiving day at Bayside Grill. On Friday we saw a museum exhibit at the SS Republic which sank off the coast of Georgia, during a hurricane, after the civil war. Very Interesting. Of course we did a little shopping at the outlet mall. There were great bargains and Alan picked up a few jackts. (in case you didn't know he's addicted to jackets. he has one for every season and occasion. at least they've all been purchased at reduced price)

He Made It!

This post is a little late but nonetheless important. May 16, 2008 Matthew graduated from High School. It was a bittersweet day for me. How did graduation day get here so fast? Didn't he just start kindergarten a few years ago?
He's a smart, creative, resourceful young man. I'm proud of you Matthew - Your opportunities are limitless!

Luscious Pillows

This group of pillows was made from some of the most fabulous silks. There was also a duvet cover, bedskirt and draperies. The drawback to working with designers is that I rarely see the finished product in the room. Hence, the photos with all the "stuff" in the background. Ignore that and concentrate on the plush pillows.

What's Missing?

OOHHH! SO PRETTY!

This fabulous window treatment hangs in the Baton Rouge Showcase Home benefiting Habitat for Humanity.

Many thanks to Pam for her help with this monster cornice. It measures 106 wide x 24" high x 8" deep. The face is a textured silk with solid dupioni silk covered buttons. Stationary drapery panels are striped dupioni silk.

Hurricane Gustav

My dear friend Donna says I'm the only person she knows that does major home improvement/decorating projects while everyone else is preparing for a hurricane. The week after Hurricane Katrina, I (this would include my husband) painted the master bath.

Today while everyone else was hunkering down, getting ready for the storm. I was putting the final touches on drapes for MY master bedroom. Baked a batch of brownies too.

Will post a picture later.

Stay safe, the rain has started here!

Nailhead Cornice

This really was so simple! Once the pieces were cut it only took 1 1/2 hours to assemble. Then the greek key tape was adhered and nailheads were applied.
